Solving Kids’ Cancer UK Events – Terms and Conditions  

Terms and conditions for Solving Kids’ Cancer UK places at events.

Taking part 

  • If your application is successful you will also be required to sign up to, and comply with, the event organiser’s event rules and/or terms and conditions. Please read these carefully, as they will set out the event organiser’s obligations and liabilities to you and vice versa. Please note that Solving Kids’ Cancer UK is not responsible for the organisation or management of the event, and therefore we shall have no liability to you for any injury, damage or loss suffered by you when taking part in or in connection with the event. 
  • You participate in this event at your own risk. Solving Kids’ Cancer UK will not be held responsible for any injury or illness resulting from your participation in the event. If you are granted a Solving Kids’ Cancer UK charity place, you agree that you will undertake suitable training and consult your GP if you have any concerns regarding health or injury. 
  • In the event of being unable to participate due to injury or any other issue, you must let Solving Kids’ Cancer UK know as soon as possible so that your place may be cancelled. If you withdraw after the event entry deadline (which, unless otherwise communicated to you by Solving Kids’ Cancer UK, is the point at which you have completed your official registration with the event organisers) you may be held responsible for your fundraising commitment. 
  • Solving Kids’ Cancer UK reserves the right to revoke race places in exceptional circumstances. 
  • If your application is successful, your race place may be subject to the event taking place in the format and with the capacity planned for by the event organiser. 
  • The event date, format and capacity may be subject to change by the event organiser due to government guidance or for any other reason. 
  • The event may be cancelled due to government guidance, Solving Kids’ Cancer UK will not be held responsible 
  • In the event your race place is affected by any such changes, the event organiser and/or Solving Kids’ Cancer UK will contact you about your place. 
  • If you are granted a Solving Kids’ Cancer UK charity place, please note this place is non-transferable. Any attempt to transfer your place may result in this place being lost. 

Fundraising 

  • You will the best of your endeavours raise money for Solving Kids’ Cancer UK in connection with your participation in the event and, in particular aim to raise at least the specified fundraising target if accepted a Charity Place. You understand that Gift Aid doesn’t count towards your fundraising target. 
  • Please note that all monies that you raise in connection with the event are held on trust for Solving Kids’ Cancer UK, and therefore you have a legal responsibility to ensure that all sponsorship monies/donations received in connection with an event are paid to us. We ask that you do this as soon as possible, but in any event within one month of the date of the event. Further information about getting these funds to us can be found in the “Fundraising Hub” section of the Solving Kids’ Cancer UK website. 

Data protection 

  • When you submit your form, Solving Kids’ Cancer UK collects your personal data. Solving Kids’ Cancer UK is the data controller for this information. Solving Kids’ Cancer UK may share your personal data with the event organiser as is necessary to obtain your place in the event. The event organiser is the data processor. 
  • You understand that Solving Kids’ Cancer UK may use, process and share your personal data for the following reasons: to  send you information about the event and your fundraising; with third parties as is necessary to provide you with the information and materials you need for the event, i.e. our fulfilment house; if you are participating as part of a group, we may pass your details on to other members of that group if you actively opt in to being contacted, by Solving Kids’ Cancer UK about our work, services and activities; to comply with our statutory and regulatory obligations or as required by law. photos and video footage captured by Solving Kids’ Cancer UK and/or shared by you may be used on our website, through our social media channels 
  • You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We may request proof of your identity (to ensure we do not inadvertently pass personal information to a third party). We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible and no later than within one month. If you believe any of the personal information we hold on you may be incorrect, or you wish information to be deleted from our systems please let us know. In certain circumstances, you may also have the right to object to the processing we carry out, to ask us to restrict our processing activity or to request that we transfer your data to another controller.

Photography 

This event may be photographed or filmed for our use in print, press and online marketing. By attending this event you are giving consent for images of you and your supporters to appear in these. If you have any concerns or do NOT wish to be part of these materials, please talk with a member of staff before taking part.
