Children First: Reforming Paediatric Oncology Through National Strategies and International Perspectives
A White Paper discussing the future of policy on paediatric oncology, with a spotlight on neuroblastoma.
We are pleased to share an early look at a forthcoming global policy white paper that explores how national strategies and international collaboration can drive better outcomes for children with cancer.
Despite progress in adult oncology, paediatric cancers remain under‑prioritised in policy, research, and system design. This white paper responds to that gap, setting out a clear framework for action that reflects both emerging policy momentum and the real‑world experiences of children and families.
The paper was developed with advisory input from Solving Kids’ Cancer UK and draws on insights from international experts and patient groups. At its core, it is grounded in the lived experiences of families and caregivers, ensuring that policy recommendations are informed by those most directly affected.
Three overarching policy themes run throughout the paper:
- National leadership
- Research and innovation
- Support beyond the clinic
The publication of the National Cancer Plan for England, with a dedicated focus on children’s cancer, marks an important step forward and demonstrates growing political commitment. We hope this paper contributes to sustaining that momentum and encourages similar leadership globally.
The full white paper will be launched in the coming months. In the meantime, you can explore key messages and recommendations in the one‑page snapshot below.
