Your Will is, first and foremost, about looking after the people you love. Once they’re taken care of, a gift of any size - whether its a fixed amount, or a small share of what’s left - can help create lasting change for children with cancer, and their families.

Through our partnership with Farewill, the UK’s best-rated Will writing provider, writing or updating your Will is completely free for Solving Kids’ Cancer UK supporters.
You can write your Will online in as little as 30 minutes, or by phone with a specialist if you’d prefer. Every Will is checked by a professional before it’s finalised.
Your Will is first and foremost about looking after the people you love. If, once they’re provided for, you’d like to leave a gift to us, there’s no obligation, but it could make a lasting difference. A gift of any size could help us fund the next breakthrough trial and be there for the families who need us next.
Case Study: Poppy’s story
Poppy was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma at just four years old, in the middle of the pandemic and weeks after her baby brother was born. What her mum, Claire, first put down to a difficult year turned out to be a tumour wrapped around Poppy’s heart.
After 13 rounds of chemotherapy, Poppy joined the MiNivAn trial at the University of Southampton, a trial co-funded by Solving Kids’ Cancer UK since 2015. This combines radiotherapy with two immunotherapy drugs to help children whose cancer isn’t responding to standard treatment. For Poppy, it reduced her disease from 33 spots to just three.
Once she completed the trial, Poppy went back onto the standard frontline treatment path, including surgery, high-dose chemotherapy with stem-cell rescue, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. In December 2022, end-of-treatment scans showed Poppy had no evidence of active disease.
MiNivAn was co-funded by Solving Kids’ Cancer UK, and it gave Poppy and her family hope when they needed it most. A gift in your Will could help us fund the next trial, and give another child and family the same chance.

Why do I need a Will?
A Will makes sure your wishes are carried out and the people and causes you care about are looked after. Without one, dealing with your estate can become more complicated, which can cause stress and cost for the people you leave behind.

Do I need to be wealthy to leave a gift in my Will?
No. Gifts of every size make a difference, and many of the gifts we receive come from people who couldn’t give large amounts during their lifetime. There’s no minimum amount, and it’s entirely your choice.

What type of gift can I leave?
There are three main types:
- A share of your estate (sometimes called a residuary gift): a percentage of what’s left once loved ones have been looked after
- A fixed amount (sometimes called a pecuniary gift): a specific sum of money
- A specific item, such as jewellery or property
If you’re thinking about leaving an item, please get in touch with us first so we can talk it through. The choice of what to leave, or whether to leave a gift at all, is always yours.

Do I have to tell Solving Kids’ Cancer UK if I’ve included a gift?
No, and your Will remains a private document.
However, if you do choose to let us know, we’d love to thank you properly and share more about the difference your support could make. It also helps us plan ahead so we can keep funding research and supporting families. Letting us know, or not, won’t affect your gift in any way.

Yes, and we’d always encourage you to. Your Will is first and foremost about looking after the people you love. A gift to Solving Kids’ Cancer UK is something you can consider once they’re provided for.

Can I leave a gift to more than one charity?
Yes. Many people split their gift between causes, either as fixed amounts or as a percentage of their estate. You can change how you divide things at any time by updating your Will.
