How do I refer my child to the National Neuroblastoma Advisory Panel?
Referrals to the National Neuroblastoma Advisory Panel (NNAP) are made by your child’s consultant. If you feel that a review by the panel would be helpful, you can speak to your consultant or clinical nurse specialist. They can explain the process and submit the necessary information on your child’s behalf.
This is a routine part of care in childhood cancer, and consultants regularly support families through this process.
What your consultant does in the referral process
Your child’s consultant will:
- explain how the process works and what to expect
- prepare the medical information required (such as scans, test results and treatment summaries)
- submit the referral and attend the panel discussion where possible
- share the panel’s recommendations with you afterwards
Referral is usually straightforward and is a routine part of care when additional expert input is needed.
What the panel does
The NNAP brings together neuroblastoma experts twice a month from across the UK to review complex or challenging cases. They provide shared recommendations to help guide the next steps in your child’s treatment plan.

Can I ask for my child to be referred?
Yes. If you believe another expert opinion would help with decision‑making, you can request a referral. Consultants are very familiar with these requests, and asking for a panel review should not affect your relationship with your medical team.
