What causes neuroblastoma?
The exact cause of neuroblastoma is not known. We know that it is not caused by environmental factors such as diet lifestyle or exposure to chemicals, and nothing you have done or not done has caused your child’s cancer.
Neuroblastoma develops from early nerve cells called neuroblasts, which form as part of a child’s development before birth. In rare cases, neuroblastoma can be linked to changes in certain genes that may be inherited, but this is very uncommon. For most children, there is no clear reason why neuroblastoma develops.
