About our virtual drop‑in sessions?

Our Connected after Cancer virtual drop‑in sessions are free, peer- support sessions for parents whose child has completed treatment for neuroblastoma.

These sessions offer an informal and friendly space where families can connect with others who understand what life after treatment can feel like, including the uncertainties, mixed emotions and challenges that may arise.

Life after treatment can feel difficult

At Solving Kids’ Cancer UK, we know that life doesn’t automatically return to “normal” when treatment ends. Parents often describe this stage as confusing, isolating and unexpectedly difficult:

While our treatment centre was excellent, I do feel that once frontline treatment ended, we were left to fend for ourselves. It was a very strange and scary feeling, especially after relying so heavily on hospital staff throughout.” Parent of a child post‑treatment for neuroblastoma

Connected after Cancer drop‑in sessions were created so that no parent has to navigate life after treatment alone.

What to expect

Our virtual drop‑in sessions bring parents together in a warm and supportive environment.  Each session offers:

  • space for honest, open and supportive conversations
  • a chance to share challenges and celebrate progress
  • support from others who genuinely get it
  • the option to simply listen - there is never any pressure to speak

Sessions are facilitated by:

  • Helen Pearson, Chief Nurse at Solving Kids’ Cancer UK
  • Hayley Blackwell, Family Support Coordinator at Solving Kids' Cancer UK and mum to a long‑term survivor

Session format:

  • one‑hour sessions
  • held every 3 months
  • delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams
  • free to join
  • no ongoing commitment

“Being able to talk openly with others who get it makes a world of difference. It’s not about fixing things - it’s about feeling seen.” Drop-in session participant

Who can join?

Drop‑in sessions are open to any parent of a child who has completed frontline treatment for neuroblastoma.

To help parents connect with others at a similar stage and share experiences in common, we run two separate groups:

Group 1: parents 0-5 years post‑frontline treatment

Group 2: parents 5+ years post‑frontline treatment

Upcoming drop‑in dates for 2026

Group 1: parents 0-5 years post‑frontline treatment: 9 September | December TBC

Group 2: parents 5+ years post‑frontline treatment: 10 September | December TBC

How to join a drop‑in session

After registering, you’ll receive a Microsoft Teams link ahead of each drop‑in session.

Parents can attend as often as it feels right for them - regularly or just when they feel they need a supportive space.

Register to attend.

You don’t have to navigate life after treatment alone

Our sessions offer understanding, reassurance and connection at a time when many parents feel most isolated. We look forward to welcoming you into a safe and supportive space built around shared experience and peer‑to‑peer support.
