Personalised family support
When your family is affected by neuroblastoma, our Family Support Team is here to provide emotional support, practical guidance and trusted information.
At Solving Kids’ Cancer UK, through our Family Support Service, we're here for you whenever you need us, from the moment of diagnosis, throughout treatment, during relapse or moments of crisis, and in life after treatment or bereavement. We offer free emotional support, clear information, and practical guidance tailored to your family’s needs.
Our Family Support Team has lived experience as neuroblastoma parents, combined with specialist knowledge of the challenges and uncertainties families face. With compassion at the heart of everything they do, they offer impartial information and gentle guidance to help you understand complex situations, process difficult information, and feel less alone.
Support is available by email, phone, WhatsApp or video call - whatever is most comfortable for you.
How we support families
Every family’s situation is unique, so we adapt our support to whatever you need, which can include:
Emotional support
A compassionate listening ear, space to talk openly, and someone who truly understands what you are facing.
Practical guidance
Help making sense of treatment pathways, test results, next steps, complex information or changes in your child’s care. We explain things clearly, without medical jargon, and help you process what you’ve been told by your clinical team.
Decision‑making support
Unbiased, pressure-free conversations to help you think through options, weigh up what matters most to your family and feel informed and supported. We never make clinical recommendations - treatment decisions always sit with you and your child’s medical team.
Support accessing treatment outside of the NHS
If you are exploring treatment not available on the NHS, we can explain what this may involve, help you understand your options and, depending on your situation, support with the logistical aspects of accessing treatment.
Fundraising guidance
If you are considering fundraising for treatment, we can talk through considerations, explain how fundraising with Solving Kids’ Cancer UK works, and support you to decide whether this feels right for your family.
Signposting
Sharing information about grants, benefits, and other sources of support that may help ease practical pressures.
Ongoing contact
Support that continues over time and as things change for your family, whether you need regular check‑ins, one‑off conversations, or help at key moments.
