Meet Clare

Clare became involved with Solving Kids’ Cancer UK back in 2004 (then named the 2Simple Trust) when her daughter, Hannah was undergoing treatment for high-risk neuroblastoma. Clare has been incredibly supportive of the charity ever since. Hannah was diagnosed in 2003 at just 3 years old and sadly, passed away in 2010 when she was 9 years old.

Hannah’s Heroes was set up in 2016 to raise funds for neuroblastoma research and Clare became an ambassador in 2020. Since then, Clare has created The Butterfly Relay, where she ran, swam and cycled over 2,000 miles. This event inspired our own Butterfly Relay in 2021, in which over 200 people took part and travelled over 115,642km to raise awareness of neuroblastoma and vital funds. In 2022 Clare received a London Classics medal for completing the London Marathon, Prudential RideLondon and Swim Serpentine. She also completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon as part of #TeamSKC.

Then, in 2022 Clare set up the Hannah's Heroes fund, a named fund with Solving Kids' Cancer UK, as a way to consolidate all that the amazing Hannah's Heroes have done and to continue their efforts and Hannah's legacy. As Clare said, "Hannah's Heroes is a thriving community and with the strong foundation of Solving Kids’ Cancer UK as our support. I know we can become a force to be reckoned with, just like Hannah."

We are so grateful to Clare for her continued support.

"Hannah fought for so long, I feel like she wouldn’t want me to just give up and walk away. She’d go ‘well what are you going to do now then? Come on, let’s go’, she was so stubborn and wonderful that I feel like I can’t just stop."
